Objectives (LAV)

General objective

Educate bachelors in visual arts who respond to the pedagogical-artistic developments that are necessary in the profession. Also, as sensitive, creative and critical individuals committed to the challenges that contemporary societies pose to the country, who are competent to generate educational proposals that influence the transformation and cultural enrichment in the various contexts and population groups of Colombian society.

Specific objectives

  • Promote the solid formation of the future professional in the visual art education area through the theoretical and practical foundation from the various academic spaces of the components within the curriculum (disciplinary, pedagogical, and didactic.)
  • Provide academic spaces for experimentation and analysis of the diverse forms of artistic and visual expression and their possibilities in education, teaching, and learning.
  • Promote a critical and reflective position regarding pedagogical and artistic visual work, in relation to the different contexts and population groups.
  • Develop research skills to strengthen knowledge production in visual art pedagogy and related educational processes.
  • The opportunity to carry out pedagogical practices, in situated contexts in accordance with current understandings of education, corresponding to the particularities of visual art and the interdisciplinary dialogues to which it is introduced.
  • Promote research and extension programs and projects, whose social projection has an impact on the socio-cultural development of communities and diverse population groups in urban and rural contexts.

  • Design curricular models, pedagogical and didactic proposals and qualitative evaluation of learning that promote the improvement of educational processes in visual arts.
  • Promote spaces for participation that facilitate the formation of ethical awareness and social responsibility, which should characterize the graduate in Visual Arts of the UPN.
  • Develop attitudes oriented to the formation of peace-building citizens, who promote equality, social inclusion and respect for differences in their professional practice.
  • Promote critical education from an intergenerational dialogic attitude that makes possible the deconstruction of the products and overwhelming visual discourses coming from a globalized visual culture that affects the formation of the ways of being and feeling of individuals, and that makes possible the reconfigurations in the granting of meaning.
